![]() You probably know elders who are literally widows and widowers, of course, because many have lost a loving spouse, either recently or long ago, frequently after 50, 60, or more married years. And recently I realized that people with Alzheimer’s are widows, orphans, and prisoners – all at the same time. ![]() I’ve been thinking about God’s compassionate heart for widows, orphans, and prisoners. “‘When did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.’” (Matthew 25:39-40) ![]() “Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them …” (Hebrews 13:3) “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction …” (James 1:27) ![]()
